The Wick Society is always open to welcome new Members provided they are prepared to offer support, time and expertise to continue the work of The Society or through the Sections that concentrate on specific interests and responsibilities. All work is done on a voluntary basis.

The  Museum Section  members are responsible for the thousands of artefacts that make the Museum so unique. They plan the displays, and act as informative guides during the months from April to the end of October when the Museum is open to visitors.  At all times, and particularly in the closed season, from November to April, members carry out necessary repairs, cataloguing and the many and varied tasks that are required to keep the buildings and exhibits in good condition.

The Boat Section  members give their time and expertise to restore, maintain and crew  the collection of boats that are in the Society's ownership. They also maintain the historic Old Herring Mart and the former Lifeboat Shed, the winter base of the Isabella Fortuna.

The Johnston Collection Section concentrates on the preservation, digitization and reproduction tasks that unlock the potential of this incredible resource of historical images.  They prepare Exhibitions and other events to make the Collection available to the public.

The Local History Section  has been formed to record, stories, facts and tales from the past  so that these are saved for future generations and used to tell the story of Wick through the Museum. They also revive interest in the local Caithness dialect and its preservation.
