During the first fifty years of the Wick Society the organisation has gone from strength to strength. To commemorate the 50th anniversary, volunteers and supporters were invited to nominate objects, photographs, recordings and events that depict the societys rich heritage. This formed the basis for the publication of Fifty Years, Fifty Favourites.
The Isabella Fortuna, an example of a traditional Fifie fishing vessel, proved to be a firm favourite. Over the years volunteers from the Boat Section of the Wick Society have spent many hours restoring this fine vessel to her former glory.
For many years the boat has made regular visits to the Scottish Traditional Boat Festival at Portsoy. This extract from the book Fifty Years, Fifty Favourites, was written and narrated by Alan Miller. In the recording he talks about some of the Portsoy trips, emphasising the resilience, commitment and dedication of the Boat Section volunteers.
